I'm starting to ask myself if they've ever been right about anything.

The answer to your question is 'No', they have never been right about anything.
That is if we measure against their stated claims of looming doom.
I think they know that their claims are hollow but hope their class power coupled with pliant governments and supine media will help to forestall or deny the reforms the cartoon talks about.

Lost a long post because of incompetence and poor interface design.
Anyway, wife and I attended the rally today in Lansing in solidarity with those in Wisconsin. Great and uplifting experience about which I will have more to say soon, perhaps for political context.
But what I wanted to draw your attention to is that today the WI legislature ordered police to remove the citizens from the Capitol. Instead, hundreds of police walked to building, went inside, and announced to their fellow citizens:
"We have been ordered by the legislature to kick you all out at 4:00 today. But we know what’s right from wrong. We will not be kicking anyone out, in fact, we will be sleeping here with you!"
This is phenomenal, inflection point stuff. The point is that Walker's bill is SO BAD, such an affront to decency and democratic principles that the police - THE POLICE - are refusing to carry out a lawful order.
From a strictly PR/optics standpoint, it is really hard to think of a development more damaging to his efforts.
"The less you eat, drink, buy books, go to the theater, go dancing, go drinking, think, love, theorize, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save and the greater will become that treasure which neither moths nor maggots can consume — your capital. The less you are, the less you give expression to your life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life ... So all passions and all activity are submerged in greed."
