"You've got to be taught before it's too late..."

Pastor Wayne Sapp of Florida deserves two intolerance medals: One for centering his church's message on negativity, emphasizing his opinion that "Islam is of the Devil" rather than, oh, the actual message of Christianity. The second, even bigger medal is for involving his ten year-old daughter, and four other children, in his propaganda campaign by either influencing or sanctioning the little girl and the other kids wearing that message on t-shirts, in violation of their school's dress code (imagine the reaction from the right, religious or otherwise, if the ten year-old son or daughter of local anti-war leaders had worn an anti-war shirt to school).

This is what happens when your theology tells you that anything is acceptable in the service of crushing your enemies, that the ends justify the means, and that children must become soldiers in causes they neither initiate nor fully understand.

Thanks to my friend Annette Daley for not only bringing this story to my attention, but suggesting the headline from the classic South Pacific song.

Douche here.

If Pastor Wayne Sapp of Florida deserves 2 intolerance awards, Mohammed, founder of Islam; deserves a Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is, after all, responsible for creating the most intolerant religion on the face of the earth.

He is responsible for such sentiments as:

""Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures." (98:6)"

Such verses as this, and others, have lead to, for example, Saudi hate literature in mosques in America (http://www.freedomhouse.org/template.cfm?page=383&report=45) among other hateful intolerance.

P.S. It wasn't me commenting about the Texas execution.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Nothing you say refutes the intolerance and basic stupidity of Pastor Sapp. Please, please, please, anonymous, start your own blog. Not a facebook page where you can de-friend people who disagree with you and thus become unaccountable while simultaneously dwelling like a party-crasher on other people's blogs, but your own PUBLIC blog. Your presence here seems obsessive and compulsive.

In the meantime, here's a little literary lesson for you, compliments of Wikipedia:

A non sequitur(pronounced /ˌnɒnˈsɛkwɨtər/) is a conversational and literary device, often used for comical purposes (as opposed to its use in formal logic). It is a comment which, due to its apparent lack of meaning relative to what it follows, seems absurd to the point of being humorous or confusing, as in the following joke:

Q: How many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Fish.

#1 - How do you know I don't already have a public blog?

#2 - I will de-friend anyone who, rather than actually backing up any of his claims with anything resembling evidence, resorts to name-calling, and then declares me unable to reason.

#3 - You have your wish; no more lurking from me.

I'm out!
